WHAT IS BATCHING PLANT?
A batching plant is a place devoted to producing or processing concrete, so that a batching plant is often referred to as a concrete factory. All the equipment in the batching unit is specifically designed to produce ready-mix concrete or ready-mix concrete by mixing the ingredients to make a concrete mix.
The location of the batching plant is generally far from residents’ locations so as not to disturb the surrounding environment. Therefore, usually the position of the batching plant will be built close to the project location where it requires very large quantities of ready mix concrete from the batching plant.
The materials used to make concrete generally consist of sand, water, stone aggregate, cement, and other materials. This concrete mixture is adjusted to the desired concrete characteristics.

3 TYPES OF BATCHING PLANTS
- DRY MIX PLANTS
Dry mix plants or dry plants are only specialized in processing concrete mixes using mixer trucks on their way. Dry mix plants, which are often referred to as transit mix plants, are responsible for weighing dry materials such as split stones, sand, and cement.
Weighing of dry ingredients that have been carried out on a digital or manual scale will be transferred to the channel that will lead to the mixer truck.
In the process of transferring the dry ingredients together, the water will be weighed according to the desired conditions, which will then be fed into the same filling channel into the mixer truck along with the dry ingredients.
During the trip to the project location, the materials will be mixed 70 to 100 times so that they are mixed evenly.
- WET MIX PLANTS
Wet mix plants or wet plants are not like dry mix plants which carry out the process of mixing concrete using a mixer truck, wet mix plants will mix the concrete mixture, namely dry ingredients and water directly on site to become a concrete mixer.
The results of the concrete mixer which is stirred using the pan mixer will then be transferred to the mixer truck after all the ingredients are mixed evenly.
The results of the concrete mixer from wet mix plants will usually only take 5 minutes to mix the ingredients in the mixer pan so that the results can be more consistent.
The results of this consistent concrete mixer are because the mixing of these materials is carried out on site using a pan mixer so that the concrete mixing process can be monitored directly to ensure the results of the concrete mixer are in accordance with predetermined standards.
This is of course different from the results of concrete mixers produced from dry mix plants which in the process of mixing the concrete are not standardized consistently because there are various factors such as the conditions of the mixer truck, travel time, and others.
Sometimes in the field to supply the results of a concrete mixer, it is necessary to mix the results from dry mix plants and wet mix plants to reduce production costs, time and area coverage. The results of the concrete mixture from wet mix plants can be a concrete mixture that can be delivered even in a truck that does not have a lid.
